ARITA c.1730 – 1750 Japanese Porcelain Carp

Made from a two piece mould, the tail and fins were made separately and luted to the body.

The carp is depicted in a dynamic pose bent at the tail forcing the body upwards, open mouthed with its barbles pushed back to its eyes it is clearly struggling. It is decorated in underglaze blue, pale iron-oxide, red and gold.

In perfect condition.
