A Rare Carved Soapstone Snuff Bottle Pomander

Of small size and finely carved with flowering prunus on a reticulated ground

With a screw top

The details incised and filled with gold

Chinese E19thC

Height; 2″ (5.0 cm)

Fitted box

Although of snuff bottle form the reticulation would make it impractical for holding snuff

As it lacks an interior chamber it was possibly intended to be used as a pomander
