A Rare Carved Soapstone Snuff Bottle Pomander
Of small size and finely carved with flowering prunus on a reticulated ground
With a screw top
The details incised and filled with gold
Chinese E19thC
Height; 2″ (5.0 cm)
Fitted box
Although of snuff bottle form the reticulation would make it impractical for holding snuff
As it lacks an interior chamber it was possibly intended to be used as a pomander
