A Rare Armorial Deep Plate Yongzheng C1731

A Famille Rose Armorial Deep Plate

With the arms of Peers

Decorated in the centre with the Peers Coat of Arms

Within a gilt swastika fret border

Divided between four panels, one containing the Family Crest

The remaining three with finely painted floral sprays.

Diameter; 8 1/2″ (21.1 cm)

Condition; slight wear to gilding

Hairline crack 3.0 cm to rim

This Famille Rose service and the companion blue and white service

Are important because the original invoices still exist.

This Famille Rose service was invoiced on 10th December 1731

The blue and white service 19th November 1731

They were shipped on the ‘Harrison’ which left Canton 8th January 1732

This service cost 228 taels for 524 pieces (an average of three shillings per piece)

They were made for Charles Peers Esq, of Chislehampton Lodge in Oxfordshire.

Son of Sir Charles Peers who had been Lord Mayor of London in 1715
